Art of Horsemanship …………..
Xenophon, also known as Xenophon of Athens, was a Greek historian, soldier, mercenary, and student of Socrates. He lived 2400 years ago. He died: 354 BC
His classic Art of Horsemanship was the first book on horsemanship that has survived the ages, and yet it is still relevant to us now.
While relatively short, this book is jammed with amazing wisdom. It is rich with gold. I recommend that every equestrian should have this book in their library.
Some of the quotes that I particularly like:
“Anything forced and misunderstood can never be beautiful.” Nuno often quoted this gem.
“The sweetest of all sounds is praise.”
“A horse is a thing of beauty…none will tire of looking at him as long as he displays himself in his splendor.”
“He who has a weak constitution becomes stronger by manual exercise than a robust man without it.” (this is noted in my topic about the Horse's Back.)
Enjoy your horse and dance.
Over and Out.
