About this website and my blog.
I guess the first thing I need to say, I am not a journalist, in fact my writing certainly can be improved – dramatically. With my previous writing I was given lots of assistance, however, unless a fairy godmother (or godfather) comes along to tidy my thoughts, education and teaching. I am sorry; but I ask that you bear with me and I hope you find value with the ideas despite the grammar and my occasional loss of words.
Your feedback is important for me as I would like to ensure that my meaning is clear, even if my writing leaves something to be desired. This blog is evolving as I learn how to “drive it.”
In all my writing I have written about the horse as HE and the rider/trainer is referred to as HER. Of course, that is not politically correct, but as I am not interested in being politically correct; here is the way that I have found it more clear for the reader. If it says SHE/HER it means the human, if it says HE/HIM means the horse.
Some of the things, that I consider are common sense, others may disagree. However it seems to me that common sense is not that common.
It is really simple – really!
It is from experience that I have become very strict about correct dress around horses. Particularly helmets and correct footwear. I have seen more problems with horses when on the ground than riding, so I am a fanatic about helmets when dealing with horses. The Yardah protocol is observed whether we are at a competition or at home. The rule is “Helmet On.”
However, some of the photos in these topics you will see that I did not always wear a helmet in past years. Other countries do not have the same opinions in regard to wearing a helmet. Fortunately, as a matter of respect to me, the students started to wear a helmet in my clinics, but there will be a few photos with the riders not wearing a helmet. It took courage of my convictions to finally insist on, not only helmets, but they had to be according to the International standards.
More news about the Blog. It is developing while I learn…
It is amazing the questions that I have already received. I will attempt to answer all in time. However, I will not be answering anything which is out of my knowledge/experience. This may be a great opportunity to invite others with expertise to share their knowledge in the CHI Members platform.
For the future topics will be from those who made suggestions in the Survey. If you would like any topics included, please participate in the Alphabet Challenge.
These topics are not static. If I get another idea, I will add to the topic. However, I will try to let you know that there are changes. I am a woman. As women, it is our right to change.
Over and Out,
P.S. I use the term “Over and Out” at the end of each of my blogs. We’ve had 2-way radios on the farm and stud for decades, and even though we always used “Over and Out” to end a conversation, many’s the time when I thought of something else to say immediately afterwards, and continued the conversation anyway. In fact, I often used the term multiple times in the one conversation – as you all know, I’ve always got something else to say!
“Over and Out” is actually a term that was introduced by Hollywood and military wannabes to acknowledge a response on a 2-way radio. In reality, the correct terms are “Over” to say that you have heard the message and you expect a reply, and “Out” means that you have heard the message but you are ending the conversation.
I’d love to hear your comments on my blogs, so what I’m really saying is “Over”, and expecting a reply from you, but if this is a topic that you don’t have an interest in, we’ll say “Out” and move on to the next blog.
